Title: DEPUTY HEAD OF CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT (M/F)

Mission Description

MISSIONS:

  • Coordination and development of the Customs Advisory center of expertise.
  • Strategic and operational support.
  • Regulatory compliance and governance.
  • Team coordination.
  • Performance and reporting.

ACTIVITIES:

1. Management, Coordination, and Development of the Customs Advisory Center:

  • Contribute to the structuring, steering, and development of a true customs expertise hub, positioned as a full business line that generates value and revenue.
  • Help define and implement a "Customs Advisory" service offer (consulting, audit, optimization, litigation assistance, structuring of customs schemes) tailored to different client segments (Oil & Gas, Mining, Agri-industry, Retail, Industry, Shipowners, etc.).
  • Participate in leading a pool of multidisciplinary experts (operations, tax, legal, compliance), ensuring the quality, consistency, and relevance of the services delivered.
  • Identify and formalize internal expertise to build a reference framework of customs "know-how" that is both differentiating and commercially valuable.
  • Actively contribute to business development: drafting technical and financial proposals, participating in tenders, supporting sales teams, and negotiating with clients.
  • Contribute to the implementation of a structured economic model (service catalog, pricing, margins, profitability monitoring) and manage the performance of the hub (revenue, margin, conversion rate, customer satisfaction).
  • Position the company as a benchmark for customs expertise with clients and institutions (Customs, tax authorities, professional bodies), contributing to its influence and reach.
  • Ensure the skills development of teams and foster a culture of technical excellence and high-value advisory.

2. Strategic and Operational Support:

  • Supervise import, export, transit, and special regime customs files.
  • Ensure the fluidity of operations in compliance with contractual deadlines and customer requirements.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure strict application of Cameroonian customs regulations and Group procedures.
  • Conduct regulatory monitoring and disseminate updates to teams.
  • Participate in the management of customs controls, disputes, reassessments, and audits.
  • Guarantee compliance with the Group's ethical and compliance standards.

4. Performance & Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze customs performance indicators (deadlines, compliance, costs, disputes).
  • Provide regular reporting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of customs processes and tools.
  • Support the professional growth and skills development of employees.

Profile

Education:

  • Master’s degree (Bac+4/5) in International Trade, Customs, Logistics, Transport, or an equivalent field.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of proven experience in customs operations and transit.
  • Strong mastery of customs procedures in Cameroon.
  • Experience in a structured or multinational environment is highly appreciated.

Desired Assets:

  • Experience in a multinational logistics, transit, or transport company.
  • Knowledge of the port platforms in Douala and/or Kribi.
  • Mastery of IT tools and customs systems.
  • Awareness of Group compliance and ethics rules.
  • English proficiency: Fluent or professional.
